(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has officially received four additional Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) G2000 MKII as part of the second phase of deliveries at the TLDM base in Kota Kinabalu, Teluk Sepanggar.
The handover ceremony, held recently at the RMN base, was witnessed by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence, Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali.
The signing of the Handover Certificates for the four FIC G2000 MKII vessels was officiated by Gading Marine Industry Managing Director, Datuk Ir Jamalolail Mohd Yatim, and Deputy Secretary of the Procurement Division of the Ministry of Defence, Hazlin Selamat.
“The FIC G2000 MKII vessels are manufactured and supplied by Gading Marine Industry (M) Sdn. Bhd., which previously delivered the first batch of four units under Phase One on January 11, 2024.”
“The remaining five units are expected to be delivered by the end of this year, bringing the total to 13 units. This initiative will further strengthen the country’s defense readiness and security,” the Ministry of Defence stated in a social media announcement on Wednesday.
In February last year, TLDM officially received the first batch of four FIC G2000 MKII vessels from Gading Marine Industry Sdn. Bhd., with the handover ceremony attended by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
According to TLDM, the four delivered FIC G2000 MKII combat boats will be deployed to MAWILLA 2 in Sandakan, enhancing maritime security—particularly in Eastern Sabah’s waters—and serving as a force multiplier for the navy.

The entire fleet of 13 FIC G2000 MKII vessels, valued at an estimated RM120 million, is armed with a 12.7mm Remote-Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS), significantly enhancing their firepower compared to the earlier FIC MK I series.
Measuring 18 meters in length, the FIC G2000 MKII is equipped with the Escribano RCWS, allowing for automated firing of the CANiK M2 Quick Change Barrel (QCB) 12.7mm Heavy Machine Gun (HMG).
Additionally, the FIC MKII is powered by a more robust propulsion system, featuring dual MAN V12 1650HP engines paired with dual Hamilton water jets.
The increased horsepower allows the 18-meter combat boat to reach speeds of up to 52 knots, surpassing the 50-knot maximum speed of the previous FIC MK I model.
In terms of operational range, the FIC G2000 MKII has a radius of 350 nautical miles when cruising at 35 knots.
Designed to accommodate five crew members and eight additional personnel, the FIC MKII is built for multi-mission operations, including coastal patrol and surveillance, high-speed interception, clandestine missions, search and rescue (SAR) operations, and rapid response missions.
