(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — The Russian Aerospace Forces have recently received additional fighter-bomber aircraft from the Novosibirsk Aircraft Production Association (NAPO), a subsidiary of Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).
The UAC operates under the umbrella of the Rostec State Corporation.
The NAPO plant, as part of the UAC, has successfully completed the manufacturing and delivery of a new series of Su-34 bombers to the Russian Ministry of Defense, as officially confirmed by the corporation’s press service.
According to the statement from Rostec’s representatives, the latest batch of Su-34 bombers has been handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense as part of the fulfillment of the state defense order.
These aircraft have undergone rigorous ground and flight tests to ensure their operational readiness.
Vladimir Artyakov, First Deputy Director-General of Rostec, highlighted the corporation’s commitment to promptly and completely fulfilling Su-34 deliveries to the armed forces.
He emphasized the crucial role played by the Novosibirsk plant in executing the state defense order within the UAC structure.
Yuri Slusar, CEO of UAC, echoed this sentiment, stating that the Novosibirsk plant has already commenced the execution of next year’s program with significantly expanded volumes, and the necessary production groundwork has been established.
However, it is important to note that, based on the available footage, only one new aircraft was visibly observed being transferred to the Russian military.
The Su-34, known for its modernity and capabilities within the Russian Aerospace Forces, has been extensively utilized in Kremlin operations in Ukraine.
Despite its strategic importance, the deployment of the Su-34 has incurred losses, with open-source intelligence confirming the destruction of at least 22 Su-34 aircraft since the onset of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine. — DSA
