Royal Malaysian Navy Joins Pakistan Navy-Led AMAN 2025 Multinational Exercise

The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) was represented by KD TERENGGANU, alongside the Naval Special Warfare Forces (PASKAL) and the RMN EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Team, in Exercise AMAN 2025, which saw the participation of naval assets and delegations from over 60 countries.

(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has participated in Exercise AMAN 2025, organized by the Pakistan Navy (PN) from February 7 to 11, 2025, in Karachi, Pakistan, and the surrounding waters.
The biennial exercise, introduced in 2007, has now entered its ninth edition, marking RMN’s seventh participation in this prestigious event.
According to a statement issued by the Strategic Communications Division of the Western Fleet Command Headquarters, AMAN 2025 has drawn assets and delegations from over 60 countries, making it one of the largest multilateral naval exercises in the region.
The RMN contingent was represented by KD TERENGGANU, along with the Naval Special Warfare Forces (PASKAL) and the RMN EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Team.
“Under the theme ‘Together for Peace,’ this exercise aims to foster regional cooperation and stability, enhance interoperability among participating naval forces, and demonstrate a collective commitment to maritime security, particularly in countering threats such as terrorism and transnational maritime crime,” the statement read.

AMAN 2025 consists of two key phases—the Harbor Phase and the Sea Phase.
During the Harbor Phase, various activities were conducted, including:
  • Opening Ceremony at Pakistan Navy Dockyard
  • AMAN Dialogue at Pakistan Naval Academy
  • Sports and cultural events, such as the AMAN Sports, International Food Gala & Cultural Show, Table Top Discussions (TTD), International Band Display, and Maritime Counter-Terrorism Demonstration
At the AMAN Dialogue, RMN delegation head, Rear Admiral Dato’ Baharudin Wan Md Nor, Commander of Maritime Region 1, was selected as a panelist in the fourth session titled “Blue Economy”, discussing Maritime Security Cooperation for Marine Ecosystem Preservation.”
“This participation highlights international recognition of RMN’s role in the global maritime domain,” the statement added.

The Sea Phase featured a series of high-profile naval exercises, including:
  • International Fleet Review (IFR), where participating warships assembled in a prestigious maritime formation
  • A Joint Counter-Piracy Demonstration, in which RMN’s PASKAL unit collaborated with special forces from other nations to showcase their capabilities in combating piracy and maritime terrorism
Additionally, the Personnel Exchange Programme (PXP) allowed officers and crew members to exchange experiences and build professional networks with their counterparts from other navies.

RMN’s participation in AMAN 2025 not only strengthens joint operational capabilities but also reinforces defense relations with regional and international partners.
The deployment of KD TERENGGANU, alongside PASKAL and the RMN EOD Team, underscores RMN’s commitment to actively contributing to maritime security and regional stability through strategic defense diplomacy.
