🎬This Is “KARAOK,” Malaysia’s Latest Anti-Tank Guided Missile.

🎬The anti-tank guided missile "KARAOK" is also similar to the FGM-148 "Javelin," a collaborative development by the United States defense firms, Lockheed Martin and RTX (formerly known as Raytheon).

(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — The presented video features a demonstration of the test launch for the “KARAOK,” a man-portable medium-range anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) developed by the Turkish defense company, ROKETSAN.

Apart from the “fire and forget” launching mode, the medium-range “KARAOK” ATGM demonstrated proficiency in engaging main battle tanks or any armored vehicles through both direct and top-attack methods.

The “top-attack” method ensures that the “KARAOK” possesses the capability to neutralize nearly all main battle tanks currently in operation.

The “KARAOK” ATGM, with a caliber of 125mm, can engage targets within a range of 2.5km to 4km. It is equipped with an Imaging Infrared Seeker guidance system and an armor-piercing tandem warhead explosive.

The components of the “KARAOK” ATGM system include the Command Launch Unit (CLU), which is reusable, similar to the Javelin system, and the guided missile itself.

In a recent test launch video, three targets at distances of 1.5km, 1km, and 500 meters were successfully engaged by the “KARAOK.”

The Ministry of Defense of Malaysia has confirmed its selection of the “KARAOK” ATGM system manufactured by ROKETSAN for the Malaysian Army’s medium-range anti-tank guided missile system.

The procurement agreement between the Ministry of Defense of Malaysia and ROKETSAN has been signed, and Malaysia is set to acquire 18 launcher units and more than 100 “KARAOK” ATGMs.

Malaysia is the first export customer for “KARAOK” anti-tank guided missile from Turkiye.

The “KARAOK” is intended to replace the “Metis-M” (AT-13 Saxhorn), a medium-range anti-tank guided missile system manufactured by Russia, which has been in service with the Malaysian Army for the past 20 years.

This selection follows a tender by the Ministry of Defense of Malaysia, announced in March, seeking 18 medium-range anti-tank guided missile systems, including internal and external simulators, and various testing equipment. — DSA
