(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — Last month, Saudi Arabia showcased its military prowess with a parade in the holy city of Mecca, demonstrating the readiness of its special forces to ensure the security of pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah.

During the event, the Saudi special forces displayed their operation of the Cobra II armored vehicles, developed by the Turkish defense company Otokar.

This oil and gas-rich Arab nation has heightened security measures in Mecca, which annually draws approximately two million people from around the world for the pilgrimage.

Among the security measures implemented by the Saudi authorities are advanced monitoring and surveillance systems, as well as the deployment of security personnel, including women.
