(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Mr. Dmitry Medvedev, visited a missile plant in the Moscow region and got acquainted with the latest aviation missile technology.
Judging by the photo on his Telegram channel, Medvedev is particularly interested in the unusual square-section missile. BulgarianMilitary.com found out what the missile is and why exactly it might interest Mr. Vladimir Putin’s deputy in the Security Council.
As experts told BulgarianMilitary.com, Mr. Dmitry Medvedev and the head of the KTRV Mr. Boris Obnosov stopped near the latest air-to-surface missile Kh-69. It first became known about her only last year, the work was classified.
The company presented a rocket model at the Army-2022 forum. And now the “live” missile hit the lens directly in the military enterprise.
What is special about this rocket? First, an unusual square section. As the developers explain, this shape makes it easier to fit it into the fuselage of the Russian Su-57 stealth fighter of the 5th generation. The full name of the missile is multifunctional, low-profile, high-precision, new generation.
Stealth for enemy air defense radars is provided by the shape of the missile’s fuselage and special coating. The Russians say a potential adversary’s air defenses have no chance of shooting down such a missile.
In addition to the Su-57, the Su-35, Su-30MK, and Su-34 fighters can carry a missile. All of them are actively involved in the war in Ukraine.
The purpose of the latest rocket is interesting. In particular, it was created to destroy transport infrastructure facilities, including railway stations and interchanges.
As part of Russian military tactics in Ukraine, this is a very urgent task, say Moscow analysts. Especially in light of the large-scale deliveries of tanks and other weapons to Ukraine announced by the West. It must be assumed that the Kh-69 will be very useful for Russian purposes.
It is also capable of hitting ammunition and fuel and lubricant stores; command posts and communication centers; oil refineries and petrochemical plants; workshops of large enterprises; engine rooms of power plants. These goals also fit into the concept of Russian actions in Ukraine.
The missile guidance system is combined. It includes a frameless inertial system as well as GLONASS and GPS satellite navigation systems. At the moment, it is known that the rocket is about to enter serial production, but it is not said when.
