Sultan of Pahang Inaugurates Malaysia’s First High-Automation Ammunition Factory by Ketech Asia
The newly inaugurated facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and expertise to manufacture high-quality ammunition in various calibers, including 9mm, 5.56mm, and 7.62mm.
(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – Malaysia’s first high-automation ammunition manufacturing facility, owned by Ketech Asia Sdn. Bhd. (Ketech Asia), was officially inaugurated on Thursday by the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
The factory, spanning 100 acres in Kuala Lipis, marks a significant milestone for Ketech Asia as it advances its ambition to become a domestic ammunition manufacturer, catering to the needs of national defense agencies.
This strategic investment is expected to generate up to 200 job opportunities in various fields, including engineering, with priority given to the local community in Kuala Lipis and surrounding areas.
Ketech Asia’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Nahar Nasir, revealed that the facility has been under development since 2022.
“The inauguration of this factory not only reinforces our commitment to the growth of Malaysia’s defense industry but also significantly contributes to local economic development,” he stated.
With over a decade of experience in the defense industry, Ketech Asia specializes in ammunition production and provides firearm solutions, accessories, and logistics support to its clients.
The newly inaugurated facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and expertise to manufacture high-quality ammunition in various calibers, including 9mm, 5.56mm, and 7.62mm.
According to Mohd Nahar, the high-automation ammunition plant has an annual production capacity of 60 million rounds per caliber.
Ketech Asia’s mission, he added, is to establish itself as a leading defense technology icon in ASEAN by 2030.
As a Malaysian defense industry player, the company also offers a range of high-quality firearms, equipment, and accessories.
“The factory integrates advanced processing capabilities and customized internal modifications to ensure the highest quality products,” he emphasized.
“We are committed to setting new benchmarks across various industry segments by delivering high-quality products and services. Ketech Asia will continue expanding its inventory of firearms and offering a diverse range of equipment and accessories without compromising quality,” he added.
Mohd Nahar further noted that the inauguration of Malaysia’s first high-automation ammunition plant underscores Ketech Asia’s ongoing efforts to support national defense through innovative technology and sustainable development.
The production of ammunition at this facility, he explained, also fosters direct involvement of local talent in manufacturing processes that adhere to NATO standards.
This is made possible through a collaborative effort between Ketech Asia and Atesci from Türkiye, involving knowledge-sharing and expertise in ammunition manufacturing.
“This initiative will provide in-depth training for local talent in the arms industry, a sector where Malaysia currently lacks specialized skilled and semi-skilled workers. At the same time, it will create new job opportunities for the local workforce,” he concluded.
