Russian Soldier To Get $145,000 for Shooting Down Ukraine’s First F-16
The Ukrainian F-16 was reportedly downed by Russian air defense systems while it was on a bombing mission targeting Russian military positions in the Zaporizhia region.
(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – A Russian soldier identified as responsible for shooting down a Ukrainian F-16 fighter jet over the Zaporizhia region several days ago may receive a cash reward of 15 million Rubles (approximately US$145,000 or RM648,000) from a prominent Russian CEO.
The cash reward was announced by the CEO of the Russian company “Fores,” Sergei Shmotyev, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) held in June.
Fores, an oil and gas company based in the Urals, has been active in supporting Russian military efforts.

“The payment for downing the F-16 is our way of supporting the brave soldiers who risk their lives every day for the security of our homeland.
We are immensely proud of our military’s heroism and will continue to provide them with all possible assistance,” Shmotyev declared.
Sergei Shmotyev, the CEO of Fores, made the announcement amid increasing recognition of Russian forces involved in high-profile military actions.
To date, Russia’s Ministry of Defense has not issued an official statement regarding the downing of the Ukrainian F-16.
The claim was instead made by influential Russian politician Vladimir Rogov.
Previously, Fores had also offered substantial cash rewards to Russian soldiers who successfully destroyed enemy military assets, including tanks.
Rewards have been issued for the destruction of Western-supplied tanks to Ukraine, such as the M1A1 Abrams and Leopard models.
