(VIDEO) For the first time, Russia has unveiled the export variant of the Su-57E fighter jet and its accompanying weaponry at the 2024 China Airshow in Zhuhai.
(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – The combat experience gained by the export variant of the Su-57E fighter jet qualifies it as a fifth-generation fighter, according to CEO Alexander Mikheyev during the 2024 Zhuhai Airshow in China.
“The Su-57E meets all requirements for a fifth-generation fighter. Its primary competitive advantage is its real combat experience,” he stated.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reports that the aircraft has performed well in combat, describing it as a high-powered weapons system equipped with the latest missiles and enhanced survivability features, including low signature and advanced internal defense systems.
For the first time, Russia showcased the Su-57E export variant and its weaponry at the 2024 China Airshow in Zhuhai.
“This includes the Kh-58UShKE anti-radar missile, Grom-E1 missile, K08BE smart air bomb, and UPAB-1500B-E glide bomb. Analysts are particularly excited about the new-generation KH-69 cruise missile,” Mikheyev added.

The Su-57E variant also conducted a demonstration flight at the Zhuhai airshow, based on the Su-57 Felon. Its presence at the event highlights Russia’s commitment to attracting international interest in acquiring the Su-57 as a fifth-generation fighter.
With a maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of 34,000 kg and an operational range of up to 7,800 km with in-flight refueling, the Su-57E is designed for durability and versatility.
It is powered by twin engines, each generating 14,500 kgf thrust, and can achieve a maximum speed of 1,350 km/h at near-ground level.
Classified as “supermaneuverable” and capable of supersonic speeds, the Su-57E fulfills the multi-mission requirements of foreign operators.
It is a fifth-generation fighter designed to engage all air, land, and maritime targets while monitoring airspace from its base and beyond, with a weapons payload capacity of up to 10 tons.
