RMAF Chief Pilots Su-30MKM in Foreign Aircraft Interception and Force Down Mission

(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) —In a display of aerial prowess, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Chief General Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan personally took to the skies in a Su-30MKM fighter jet, leading a high-stakes Intercept and Force Down Mission against a foreign aircraft.
According to a media social statement by the RMAF today, the mission was conducted in conjunction with the Working Visit of the Public Service Remuneration System Working Committee (JKK SSPA) to Kuantan Air Base on February 4, 2025.
The Intercept and Force Down Mission is a rapid-response maneuver undertaken by fighter squadrons to intercept and neutralize unauthorized foreign aircraft entering Malaysian airspace.
This demonstration aimed to provide delegates with firsthand insights into the operations of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), particularly the RMAF.
The exercise aligns with the proposed enhancements under the SSPA for ATM services, which have been presented to the JKK SSPA of the Public Service Department (JPA).

The participation of the RMAF Chief, officers, and personnel in the mission underscores the strategic, operational, and tactical readiness of RMAF assets and personnel, demonstrating their ability to mobilize at any time in defense of national sovereignty.
Other demonstrations held during the visit included:
  • Low-Level Tactical Navigation
  • Free-Fall Tactical Infiltration
  • Combat Search and Rescue Mission
  • Ground Attack Tactics and Close Air Support Mission
  • Night Flight Tactical Operations
  • Night Air Combat Tactics and Close Air Support Mission
Some of these exercises were also attended by JPA representatives, allowing them to experience the challenges and risks faced by ATM personnel in executing critical missions.
