(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, claims that out of 1,600 Israeli tanks and armoured vehicles deployed to Gaza, around 300 of them have been destroyed by Palestinian fighters.

However, he asserts that the Israeli military is suppressing the dissemination of this information to maintain the morale of its forces and the general public.

“Information from the battlefield indicate that Palestinian fighter have successfully destroyed 300 out of the 1,600 Israeli tanks and armored on the battlefield. However, the Israeli regime has suppressed the dissemination of this information due to the bad situation in the war zone, with significant economic repercussions resulting from the conflict in Gaza,” he stated.

Hossein reportedly made these remarks during a meeting with volunteer members of the Basij in Qazvin, north of Tehran, as reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA.

Hossein’s statement regarding the extent of the destruction of Israeli military main battle tanks and armored vehicles was similar from recent estimates made by international military analysts.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a branch of the Iranian Armed Forces, established on April 22, 1979, following the Iranian Revolution, under the directive of Ayatollah Khomeini.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard is believed to have around 125,000 personnel, including ground, aerospace, and naval forces.

According to international military analysts, since the start of the armed conflict between Palestinian fighters and the Israeli military on October 7 until the day before the humanitarian pauses, a total of 335 various types of Israeli military vehicles have been reported destroyed or damaged due to the ongoing battles.

“Meanwhile, 392 Israeli military personnel are reported to have been killed, while over 2,000 members of the Israel Defense Force (IDF) have suffered injuries.”

Additionally, reports indicate that the current conflict between Palestine and Israel has led to a $48 billion (RM216 billion) economic loss for Israel for this year and the next.

Leader Capital Market, in its report, states that the Israeli government will bear two-thirds of the total cost of the war, while one-third will be covered by the United States through its military aid.

The Israeli Ministry of Finance also states that the current conflict has forced Israel to spend $270 million (RM1.2 billion) each day to carry out the war.
