Malaysian-US Forces Strengthen Ties Through Exercise Tiger Strike 2024
This year’s exercise tasked the 10th Brigade (Para) Malaysia Army with collaborating alongside the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and the Amphibious Transport Dock USS SOMERSET in the Kuala Terengganu area.
(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — Exercise Tiger Strike 2024, a joint military drill between the Malaysian and United States forces, concluded at Aslan’s Urban Competency Area (AUCA), 18 RAMD (Para).
The closing ceremony was presided over by Deputy Army Chief, Lt Gen Dato’ Tengku Mohd Fauzi Tengku Ibrahim on June 5, 2024.
This year’s exercise tasked the 10th Brigade (Para) Malaysia Army with collaborating alongside the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and the Amphibious Transport Dock USS SOMERSET in the Kuala Terengganu area.
The operations focused on amphibious and air assault maneuvers, central to the 10th Brigade (Para)’s Blueprint Way Forward strategy.
The exercise spanned from May 29 to June 7, 2024, involving troops from Malaysia’s 10th Brigade (Para), Royal Malaysia Navy (RMN) KD Terengganu, the RMN Special Forces (PASKAL), and the Royal Malaysian Air Force’s No 10 Squadron.
In his address, the Deputy Army Chief highlighted that this year’s Tiger Strike Exercise achieved its objectives of fostering camaraderie, strengthening military relations, and enhancing mutual understanding between the two nations.
It also promoted amphibious and air assault operations, indirectly boosting interoperability and professionalism between the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the United States Force (USF), contributing to regional stability.
The exercise also served as a platform for exchanging knowledge, skills, experience, and expertise between ATM and USF.
These activities align with the Second and Fifth Pillars of the 30th Army Chief Main Command, which focus on Joint Warfare Innovation and a Shift in Defense Diplomacy, realized through this bilateral exercise between the Malaysian Army and the United States military.
The parade ceremony also featured notable attendees including Commodore Amphibious Squadron 5 (CPR-5), Capt James Robinson, Commander of the 10th Brigade (Para), Major Gen Dato’ Khairul Azmizal Ahmad Natal, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Training (OPLAT), Major Gen Dato’ Hj Semaon bin Hj Marjuki, Defense Attache Capt Pasit Somboonpakron, Commanding Officer of Combat Logistics Battalion 15th, Lt Col LE Mathwick, and Commander of the Eighth Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Muzamil bin Hj Ali. — DSA
