Malaysian Army Agusta A109 Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Kluang, Three Injured
The incident occurred while the Agusta A109 LOH helicopter, operated by Malaysian Army Aviation, was undergoing a Night Flight Training session for the 'Army Aviation Basic Officer Course' on the airstrip at Kem Mahkota Kluang.
(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — A Malaysian Army Agusta A109 LOH (M81-11) helicopter made an emergency landing at the Kluang Airstrip, Regiment 881, Mahkota Camp Kluang, in an incident that occurred at 1:35 AM today.
The Agusta A109 LOH helicopter is operated by Regiment 881, Army Aviation (PUTD).
According to a statement from the Army Public Relations Cell (PRTD), the helicopter was carrying three crew members: a helicopter instructor, a course student, and a quartermaster crew.
The incident happened during a Night Flight Training session for the ‘Army Aviation Basic Officer Course’ on the airstrip.
“All crew members were conscious, and initial assessments found several injuries, including spinal fractures and lacerations on various body parts, as well as other injuries yet to be identified.
However, all of them are in stable condition and have been taken to Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital for further treatment,” the statement read.
Following the incident, the PRTD announced that the Malaysian Army (TDM) has temporarily grounded the helicopter and convened a Board of Inquiry to determine the cause of the incident.
