(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – Polish drone manufacturer WB Group has announced that the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) has become the latest user of its “FlyEye” Unmanned Aerial System (UAS).
According to a press release issued by the company on December 12, the first batch of the “FlyEye” UAS systems has been delivered to Malaysia for military use.
Malaysian Armed Forces personnel have undergone training to operate the system at WB Group’s facilities in Silesia, Poland.
The press release did not disclose the number of “FlyEye” systems acquired by the MAF or the procurement value.
Nonetheless, Malaysia has joined the ranks of other nations employing the “FlyEye” system, including its country of origin, Poland.
The “FlyEye” UAS has been extensively tested in challenging conditions, including the large-scale conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
It has been extensively deployed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The FlyEye has been praised for its resilience against enemy electronic warfare measures, such as jamming, making it a reliable asset in combat scenarios.

Its performance in these challenging conditions has demonstrated its effectiveness in modern warfare.
In 2023, WB Group announced that the Polish Armed Forces had procured 1,700 units of the “FlyEye” system, while the South Korean military acquired WB Group’s “Warmate” loitering munitions.
First introduced to the public in 2010 by WB Electronics, a subsidiary of WB Group, the “FlyEye” UAS was initially adopted by the Polish Armed Forces, territorial defense units, and border guards.
Since 2015, the Ukrainian military has also been deploying the system in growing numbers.
The “FlyEye,” with a wingspan of 3.6 meters, serves multiple roles, including reconnaissance and artillery target observation.
It has also been deployed alongside the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV and the “Warmate” loitering munition, both also developed by WB Group. Ukrainian forces have repeatedly affirmed the system’s resilience against enemy jamming measures.
According to WB Group, the “FlyEye” system, with a maximum takeoff weight of 9.9 kg, can be manually launched after just 10 minutes of preparation.

It offers a maximum flight time of over 150 minutes, with a range exceeding 150 km at a cruising speed of 60 km/h. The system’s secure telemetry connection extends up to 180 km.
Designed for aerial reconnaissance missions, the “FlyEye” is equipped with optoelectronic components, including cameras capable of capturing images in daylight and thermal imaging for nighttime operations.
The system employs a silent electric motor powered by lithium-polymer batteries, enhancing its stealth capabilities—critical for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. — DSA
