The Indian Air Force says Rafale, Su-30MKM and F/A-18D training at Udara Shakti 2026 strengthened combat interoperability, expeditionary logistics and strategic defence cooperation between India and Malaysia.

Concluding at Subang Air Base on August 14, the exercise connected Indian Rafale fighters with Malaysian Su-30MKM and F/A-18D aircraft through dissimilar combat training, professional exchanges, aerial refuelling, and expeditionary logistics.

“Exercise Udara Shakti 2026 culminates with IAF Rafale and RMAF Su-30MKM and F/A-18 crews exchanging operational insights and sharing experiences,” the Indian Air Force stated after the five-day bilateral engagement.
The IAF added that the exercise strengthened “interoperability, mutual learning and professional camaraderie,” while further deepening the enduring friendship and cooperation between two strategically autonomous Indo-Pacific air forces.
That statement framed Udara Shakti as more than ceremonial defence diplomacy because interoperability determines whether different forces can communicate, coordinate, sustain aircraft, manage airspace, and make timely decisions during complex multinational operations.
