(VIDEO) Group of Fishermen Shocked as Low-Flying Russian Missiles Fly Extremely Close

(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — A video has gone viral on social media, showing a group of fishermen in the Caspian Sea startled as several low-flying Russian cruise missiles, believed to be heading towards Ukraine, soared nearby.

The missiles, identified as “Kalibr” cruise missiles, flew just a few meters above the fishermen’s boat.

The fishermen were shocked to see the missiles flying so low, only a few meters above the water’s surface, likely to avoid detection by Ukraine’s air defense systems.

According to local media, one of the fishermen remarked, “A missile is flying towards us.”

 Another fisherman was heard saying, “This is amazing.”

It is believed that the Russian military launched the missiles from the Caspian Sea, located about 1,600 kilometers from Ukraine.

A few days ago, Russia launched dozens of missile attacks on various targets in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, resulting in more than a dozen casualties.

Moscow stated that the approximately 40-missile attack on Kyiv was in retaliation for Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian economic centers, such as power plants and oil refineries.

It was also possibly a response to Ukrainian missile strikes on Crimea, which is occupied by Russian forces.

The missiles seen flying near the group of fishermen were identified as “Kalibr.”

In addition to “Kalibr” missiles, the Russian military used several other missiles in its recent attacks on Kyiv, including the hypersonic “Kinzhal” missile, the tactical “Iskander-M” missile, the hypersonic “Tsirkon” missile, and the KH-59/KH-69 cruise missiles.

Additionally, Russia employed KH-101 and KH-22 missiles.

The “Kalibr” missiles, launched by Russia from surface warships and submarines in its Black Sea Fleet, are capable of striking targets up to 2,500 kilometers away.

Equipped with a 500kg warhead, the “Kalibr” missile is considered a highly potent weapon system by NATO, earning the nickname “The Sizzler.” — DSA
