Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has reportedly proposed selling its domestically developed 4.5-generation fighter jet, the KF-21 Boramae, to Saudi Arabia.
Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) Chief of Staff, Gen. Lee Young-su piloted his maiden test flight aboard the KF-21 Boramae—a cutting-edge 4.5-generation fighter jet now in its crucial final phase of development.
The KF-21 “Boramae” fighter jet is reportedly entering the competition to supply the Philippine Air Force’s Multi-Role Fighter (MRF) program, alongside the American-made F-16 and the Swedish-made JAS39 Gripen, creating a three-way contest.
Although the 4.5 generation fighter aircraft developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), the KF-21 “Boramae” is still in the development process, the South Korean aerospace company has already “marketed” it to the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
South Korea is planning to develop short-range air-to-air missiles for use by the indigenously-develop 4.5 generation fighter aircraft, the KF-21 “Boramae,” which is set to be mass-produced beginning this year.
