Russian Weapons Experts Actively Analyzing Six “Captured” NATO Vehicles

According to reports, the six types of combat vehicles successfully captured by the Russian military belong to NATO countries such as France, Germany, and the United States.

(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — Russian weapon experts are reported to be actively analyzing in detail six types of combat vehicles manufactured by Western countries, including the successful “capture” of the French-made AMX-10RC by their military from the Ukrainian forces operating it.

According to reports, the six types of combat vehicles successfully captured by the Russian military belong to NATO countries such as France, Germany, and the United States.

However, the actual identities of these six NATO combat vehicles have not been disclosed.

A thorough study of the captured combat vehicles by the Russian military is believed to be carried out by experts at Kurganmashzavod, a Russian company known for manufacturing military vehicles.

“Experts at Kurganmashzavod are analyzing the technologies found in these Western combat vehicles (that were captured) to assess their strengths and weaknesses,” according to the reports.

AMX-10RC operated by Ukrainian forces

The reports about the success of the Russian military in capturing six types of NATO combat vehicles surfaced after recent reports claimed that Moscow had successfully captured the AMX10-RC combat vehicle supplied by France to the Ukrainian military.

The AMX-10RC combat vehicle, equipped with a 105mm cannon, is also referred to as a light armored vehicle.

The Russian military captured the AMX-10RC in the Zaphorizia region, southern Ukraine, which witnessed intense battles between the two sides a few weeks ago when Kiev launched a counterattack in the spring.

Vladimir Rogov, the head of the civilian movement in Zaphorizia, confirmed the capture of the French-made AMX-10RC combat vehicle and stated that the vehicle is in excellent condition without any damage.

He mentioned that the current plan is to send the captured combat vehicle to Russian weapons experts for analysis.

The AMX-10RC combat vehicle was developed by the company Nexter Systems and is used for reconnaissance purposes.

In January of the previous year, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that the country would supply various types of weapons to Ukraine, including the AMX-10RC combat vehicle, making it the first Western-made light armored vehicle sent to Ukraine.

The French government is believed to have supplied more than 10 AMX-10RC infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to be used by the Ukrainian military in the recently launched spring counterattack.

Weighing 20 tons and equipped with a 105mm cannon, the IFV AMX-10RC is used to hunt down enemy armored vehicles.

However, a Ukrainian military commander stated that the French-contributed AMX-10RC combat vehicle is not suitable for frontline action in Ukraine due to its thin armor.

He mentioned that the IFV AMX-10RC is not suitable for front-line assault operations because of its thin armor, and this condition has already resulted in the sacrifice of four Ukrainian military personnel.

The 34-year-old Ukrainian military commander, known as “Spartanets,” stated that due to its thin armor, the IFV AMX-10RC is only suitable for providing fire support and not for being on the front lines.

He recounted a tragic incident where a military member died inside the IFV due to an artillery explosion near the vehicle, causing fragments to penetrate the IFV, resulting in the explosion of the ammunition carried by the vehicle, killing four crew members. — DSA
