🎬Israeli Military Dismisses Brigade Commander, Deputy After Hamas Battle Retreat

🎬As reported by the Israeli media outlet "Ynet" and cited by Clash Report, the two highest-ranking officers of the IDF brigade asserted that they were not provided with fire support from other Israeli military units during the battle against Hamas members, leading them to withdrew from the battle with Hamas fighters in Gaza.

(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) took disciplinary action by dismissing a brigade commander and his deputy, along with soldiers under their command, following what was described as an unsanctioned retreat from combat against Hamas fighters in the city of Gaza.

As reported by the Israeli media outlet “Ynet” and cited by Clash Report, the brigade’s commander and his deputy alleged that they were not provided with fire support from other Israeli military units during the confrontation with Hamas members.

This alleged lack of fire support led to their withdrawal from the battle zone.

The claims made by the brigade commander and his deputy about the absence of fire support from other Israeli military units during the confrontation with Hamas in the city of Gaza were corroborated by other members of their brigade.

According to the Israeli media report, the absence of fire support resulted in the brigade’s withdrawal from the intense battle with Hamas fighters.

They also alleged that the offensive on the Hamas positions was poorly planned, leading them to being ambushed by the Palestinian fighters.

Ynet further reports that the involved brigade was deployed to the combat zone despite senior IDF leadership being aware that the brigade members were fatigued from previous firefights with Hamas fighters in different locations within Gaza.

Officers of the brigade also claimed that they were sent on the mission without proper preparation, immediately after fighting in another part of the city, without sufficient rest.

Upon the brigade’s retreat from the battle with Hamas, their position was taken over by Israeli military personnel from another brigade, as reported by the Israeli media.

The brigade in question had previously suffered casualties and injuries in clashes with Hamas armed members in Gaza.

The incident has resulted in a crisis of trust among the brigade’s commander, deputy, and its members, with the leadership of the IDF overseeing the affected brigade.

This crisis has led a significant number of brigade members to refrain from returning to the brigade, citing a lack of trust by the higher-ups in the Israeli military towards the commander and his deputy.

According to Ynet, a considerable portion of the brigade members who retreated from the battle zone have not reported back to their unit, which is now led by new commanders appointed by IDF to replace those who were dismissed.

The dismissed brigade commander and deputy could potentially face military justice in light of their removal by the Israeli military.

Meanwhile, an IDF spokesperson quoted by Ynet stated that the claims made by the brigade members have been evaluated by other commanders, and actions have been taken in a professional manner.

The spokesperson also noted that the brigade has experienced casualties and injuries in battles against Hamas over the past month. — DSA
