(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – Israel citizens residing in illegal Jewish settlements along the country’s border with Lebanon have been informed of the capabilities of the “Burkan” rockets possessed by Hezbollah.
Yesterday, residents of the Shlomi illegeal Jewish settlement in northern Israel, not far from the Lebanese border, witnessed firsthand the explosive explosion unleashed by a Burkan rocket launched by Hezbollah.
The Burkan rocket did not detonate in the residential area but rather in the nearby mountainous region believed to house Israeli military positions.
“Many among the Israeli population (in the northern part of the country) had heard about Hezbollah’s ‘Burkan’ rockets, and today (yesterday), they could witness the size of the explosion generated by the Burkan rocket in the vicinity of Shlomi,” reported Israeli media.
Video footage of the powerful Burkan rocket explosion near the illegal Jewish settlement in Shlomi is now viral on Israeli social media.
From the viral video footage, the magnitude of Burkan’s explosion appears akin to a small nuclear detonation.
According to military analysts quoted by the country’s media, the recent launches of Burkan rockets by Hezbollah against Israeli military targets are “extremely concerning.”
There is deep concern about the use of Burkan rockets against Israeli civilian settlements.
” If these rockets hit residential areas, they could cause immense destruction,” said the Israeli media.
The short-range “Burkan” rocket is feared for its payload, weighing between 400kg to 500kg, capable of causing significant devastation.
With a range of up to 10km, the “Burkan” rocket was developed during the conflict in Syria.
Analysts assert that Hezbollah may have modified the rocket to carry a larger payload and achieve an extended range.
Designed for close-quarters warfare, the rocket is suitable for striking densely populated areas and military positions.
Hezbollah is believed to employ the “Burkan” rocket for two purposes: bombing civilian areas and Israeli military bases near the Israel-Lebanon border.
Another objective is to target Israeli military positions located within densely populated areas along the Lebanon border. — DSA
