Black Shadow-Cope Taufan Exercise, Strengthening the PANDURA Company
BLACK SHADOW Exercise Series 2/23 was a joint training involving the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the United States Pacific Air Forces (US PACAF), which included airborne aircraft operations in conjunction with Exercise COPE TAUFAN between the Malaysian Armed Forces and US Pacific Air Forces (US PACAF).
(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — A total of two officers and 32 Other Ranks (ORs) were involved in Exercise COPE TAUFAN Series 1/23, which took place in the vicinity of Seberang Perak on September 24, 2023.
This exercise from September 16 to September 24, 2023, during which the PANDURA Company (Paratroopers) executed Exercise BLACK SHADOW Series 2/2023 as an affiliated unit to BG HORNBILL, who was conducting Exercise KANOPI KENYALANG.
Exercise BLACK SHADOW Series 2/23 was a joint training involving the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and the United States Pacific Air Forces (USPACAF), which included airborne aircraft operations in conjunction with Exercise COPE TAUFAN and static line parachute jumps alongside the 8th Ranger Regiment (8 RRD) (Paratroopers) under BG HORNBILL in Exercise KANOPI KENYALANG.
The exercise focused on the training of the PANDURA Company (Paratroopers) Reconnaissance Platoon as a reconnaissance element through the Military Free Fall infiltration method, followed by executing reconnaissance tasks within small unit operations and the elimination of High Value Targets (HVTs) under orders.
This training successfully achieved its objectives by providing a realistic understanding to officers and personnel regarding the duties and roles of special forces in supporting the operations of the 10th Paratrooper Brigade (Para).
