(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) — Russia appears to be sending a “warning” to Western nations that are supplying arms to Ukraine particularly the United States by showcasing captured Western weaponry to the public in Moscow.

The exhibition includes some of Ukraine’s most advanced tanks, such as the Leopard 2A6, and is set to take place in Victory Park, Moscow, starting May 1, lasting for a month.

Victory Park, located in the heart of Moscow, commemorates the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II, known in Russia as the Great Patriotic War.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, over 30 weapon systems supplied by 12 Western countries including the United States and Ukraine, will be displayed as evidence of Russia’s success in countering “attacks” from Western nations.

The weapons showcased include those from the United States, Britain, Germany, France, Turkey, Sweden, the Czech Republic, South Africa, Finland, Australia, Austria, and Ukraine itself.

Among the displayed armaments are German-made Leopard 2A6 tanks and Marder armored vehicles, Ukrainian T-80 tanks, American Bradley armored vehicles, Swedish CV90 armored vehicles, and French AMX-10RC tanks.

It is unclear whether the American M1A1 Abrams tanks destroyed by Russian forces will also be on display to the Muscovites.

Besides major armaments, the exhibition includes light weapons such as Javelin anti-tank guided missile systems, as well as documents, maps, and various other “assets”.

This is the second exhibition following last year’s, where Russia also displayed captured weapons including Storm Shadow and SCALP missiles.

According to Western media, this display of captured Western weaponry by President Vladimir Putin is seen as a provocation, occurring just days after the United States and the United Kingdom announced they would continue to send various types of weapons worth tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine.

Russia

Last week, members of the U.S. Congress and Senate agreed to provide more than $60 billion in military aid to Ukraine, one of Washington’s largest military supports to Kyiv.

This military aid includes a variety of weapons from air defense systems like the “Patriot” to tactical missile systems like ATACMS, aimed at targeting Russian military positions deep within the country.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has promised Ukraine the largest British military support to combat Russia, including approximately 400 military vehicles, 1,600 guided missiles, 4 million artillery shells, 60 boats, and an additional 500 million pounds in military financial aid.

This brought the total British military aid to Ukraine this year to 3 billion pounds.

In response to the increasing Western military support to Ukraine, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has warned that the country will intensify attacks on Western logistic centers and weapon storage facilities in Ukraine.

According to the Russian defense minister, the conflict in Ukraine has successfully challenged the “belief” that Western-made weapons are superior, following their success in destroying many Western-made weapons.
