(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – During a military parade held today, Iran showcased its latest ballistic missile, named “Jihad,” along with the newest variant of the Shahed-136B suicide drone.
The military parade took place amid accusations from the West that Iran is exporting ballistic missiles to Russia to assist Moscow in its conflict with Ukraine, as well as rising regional tensions due to the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel.
The “Jihad” ballistic missile, developed by the Aerospace Division of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), uses solid fuel, allowing it to hit targets more than 1,000 km away.
This latest missile is also equipped with a high-explosive detachable warhead.
Meanwhile, the new variant of the Shahed-136B suicide drone is an upgrade of the previous Shahed-136, which Western officials claim Iran has supplied to Russia for use in the armed conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
Iran has denied supplying these suicide drones to Moscow for use in the Ukraine conflict.
The latest variant, the Shahed-136B, can fly up to 4,000 km, double the range of the previous model, Shahed-136, which was capable of flying only 2,000 km.
The Shahed-136 was designed and developed by Shahed Aviation Industries and can carry up to 50 kg of explosives.
Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, attended the military parade, which also commemorated the anniversary of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
“Today, our defense and deterrence capabilities have grown so significantly that no enemy dares to act aggressively toward Iran,” said the Iranian president.

“With unity among Islamic nations, we can rightfully confront the mass-murdering state of Israel, which shows no mercy to anyone, whether women or children, young or old,” Masoud added.
In addition to the “Jihad” ballistic missile and the latest Shahed-136B suicide drone, the parade also displayed various ballistic and cruise missiles in Iran’s arsenal, including the Kheibar Shekan, Fatah, Haj Qasem, Qadr H, Emad, Khorramshahr, and Sejil missiles. – DSA
