Ikramatic Systems and KAI to Develop Simulators for RMAF FA-50 Pilot Training
Ikramatic and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) will jointly develop two flight simulators — a Full Mission Simulator and an Operational Flight Trainer — to train Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) pilots in operating the FA-50M fighter aircraft by 2026.
(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – During Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin’s working visit to the Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) facilities, he witnessed the signing of an agreement between local company Ikramatic Systems Sdn Bhd and KAI.
The agreement involves the Industrial Collaboration Program (ICP).
According to a report by Bernama, Ikramatic Executive Director Syed Mohamad Ikram stated that the ICP between Ikramatic and KAI will see both parties jointly develop simulators for the FA-50M fighter aircraft, which will be used by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).
Ikramatic and KAI will collaboratively develop two flight simulators — the Full Mission Simulator and the Operational Flight Trainer — to train RMAF pilots by 2026.

“Ikramatic has been selected as the ICP recipient by KAI due to its 26 years of experience in developing locally-made aircraft simulators,” said Syed Mohamad Ikram.
He further explained that the South Korean aerospace giant has confidence in Ikramatic’s extensive experience and quality as a company.
In December last year, Ikramatic signed the first-phase contract and was appointed as a vendor for KAI’s overseas projects.
Ikramatic completed the first phase of the FA-50M simulator design in the first quarter of 2024 and is now in the final stages of the second design phase before transitioning to the construction phase.
Ikramatic has vast experience in developing simulators for aircraft, helicopters, and ground security forces.

One of its earliest projects was the development of a Pilatus PC-7 training aircraft simulator for RMAF.
Following the success of this project, the local company went on to develop a full-mission simulator for the Aermacchi MB-339-CM aircraft, also used by RMAF.
In addition to aircraft simulators, Ikramatic has developed a simulator for the AS355N helicopter.
It has also created the Integrated Shooting and Marksmanship Trainer (ISMAT) to train security personnel in light weapons use.
ISMAT is an immersive shooting simulator designed for small arms and support weapons, aimed at improving marksmanship, situational handling, and battlefield management.

The system supports training with various weapons, ranging from pistols to the 12.7mm Heavy Machine Gun (HMG).
The system offers three training modes: Marksmanship Training for basic and advanced training, Judgmental Training, and Collective Training.
Ikramatic has also developed a Virtual Reality Simulator called SIMBAT, a tactical training system using Virtual Reality technology.
SIMBAT provides combat personnel with a realistic combat experience without the risks associated with live ammunition, high budgets, logistics, and complex planning.
